This policy explains what personal data Tahiri Idriss (an independent developer based in Algeria, the “developer”, “we”, “us”) collects in connection with the TD. Course Downloader application, the licensing service and this website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The Software is built to keep your data on your own device wherever possible.
In short: the website sets no analytics or advertising cookies. The desktop app keeps your settings, any sign-in files you supply, and your download history only on your computer — none of it is sent to us. The only personal data we receive is what is needed to run the free-plan limit and to sell and protect paid licences: your name, your email, a one-way “fingerprint” of your computer, and — on the free plan — the times of your recent downloads.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is Tahiri Idriss. For any privacy question or request, contact [email protected].
2. This website
This website is a set of static pages. We do not run our own analytics, advertising, social-media pixels or tracking cookies on it.
The site is served through a hosting provider and a content-delivery network. Like almost all web infrastructure, those providers automatically process technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the time of your request in server logs, and may set strictly-necessary cookies for security and load-balancing. This processing is carried out by those providers for the security and reliable operation of the site. If you email us using a link on the site, we receive your email address and message.
3. The desktop application — data kept on your device
When you use the Software, the following is stored locally on your computer only (in your Windows user profile) and is not transmitted to us:
- your application settings and preferences;
- any browser-cookie or authentication files you choose to load so the Software can access Content on your behalf;
- the list and history of your downloads, including course titles, lesson names and completion times;
- the times of your recent downloads (also mirrored in a value under your Windows user registry key), used to enforce the free-plan limit of five downloads per 24 hours;
- after activation, a signed licence file confirming your paid licence.
You can delete this data at any time by removing the Software’s data folder and the related registry value, or by using the Software’s own controls. Removing this data does not reset the free-plan limit, because your recent download count is also held by the licensing service (see below).
4. The licensing service — data we receive
To run the free-plan limit and to sell, activate and protect paid licences, the Software communicates with our licensing service. The following data is sent to and stored by that service:
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your name and email address (as entered at purchase / activation) | To issue the licence, tie it to you, provide support, and confirm your identity when you activate. |
| Your licence key | To verify the key is genuine and has not been revoked. |
| A machine fingerprint: a one-way SHA-256 hash derived from your computer’s host name, operating-system user name, platform, Windows installation identifier and one network-adapter hardware address | To identify each computer so a paid licence can be limited to three computers, and so the free-plan limit of five downloads per 24 hours can be counted per computer. We cannot reverse the hash back to those underlying values. |
| The times of your recent downloads on the free plan (timestamps only — not what you downloaded) | To count how many of your five daily free downloads remain, and to stop the count being reset by clearing local data. |
| The IP address the activation, check or count is made from, and a short hash of it | Network operation, and detecting abuse such as one key spread across many locations, or many free-plan downloads from rotating addresses. We do not use it to track your browsing or build a profile. |
| The approximate time of each activation or check, and the Software version | Basic operation, fraud prevention and troubleshooting. |
Legal bases: performance of our contract with you (delivering and maintaining your licence, and operating the free plan) and our legitimate interest in preventing licence fraud and abuse of the free plan. We do not use this data for advertising, profiling or any form of behavioural tracking, and we do not sell it.
Retention: we keep licence records (name, email, key, fingerprint, activation history including recent IP addresses) for as long as the licence is active and for a limited period afterwards for accounting, warranty and fraud-prevention purposes, then delete or anonymise them. Free-plan records (fingerprint, recent download times, recent IP hash) are kept only as long as needed to enforce the daily limit, and download timestamps older than about 24 hours are pruned.
5. Payments
Payments are handled by Paddle.com (Paddle.com Market Ltd), our authorised reseller and Merchant of Record. Paddle processes your payment details under its own privacy policy; we do not receive or store full card numbers. From Paddle we receive the information needed to fulfil and account for your order, such as your name, email, country and an order reference.
6. Who we share data with
We share personal data only with:
- service providers acting on our instructions — website hosting, the server that runs the licensing service, email, and our Merchant of Record and payment provider, Paddle.com;
- authorities or third parties where we are legally required to do so, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, or to prevent fraud or abuse.
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for others’ marketing.
7. International transfers
Our service providers may process data on servers located outside Algeria, including in the European Union or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards offered by those providers.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to: confirm what data we hold about you; provide a copy; correct inaccurate data; delete your data; or restrict or object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email [email protected] from the address linked to your licence. We will respond within a reasonable time. Note that if you ask us to delete licence or fraud-prevention data while a licence is active, we may need to deactivate that licence, and we may retain the minimum information needed to prevent renewed abuse of the free plan. If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you may contact your local data-protection authority.
9. Children
The Software and website are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the data we hold, including transport encryption for communication with the licensing service and signed licence responses. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The “last updated” date shows the current version, posted on this website. Material changes will be highlighted where practical.
